Minister of Justice and Minister of Social Affairs meet with UNHCR Office in Tunisia to discuss bilateral cooperation between the two entities

UNHCR Tunisia Deputy Representative and Officer-in-charge, Ms.Felicitas Nebril, met on 17 March 2017 with the Minister of Justice Mr.Ghazi Jeribi.
Both sides discussed activities and issues of common interest. UNHCR Tunisia Deputy Representative provided an update on UNHCR's cooperation activities with the Tunisian authorities and on the situation of refugees and asylum issues in Tunisia. She also expressed the continued commitment of UNHCR to support the Tunisian authorities regarding refugee issues, in particular to the Ministry of Justice concerning the expedition of the national asylum law adoption.
For his part, the Minister praised UNHCR's support and fruitful cooperation between the two sides and ensured his special attention to the national asylum law. He considered that this law will reinforce Tunisia's commitment to international conventions about asylum and human rights issues.

A meeting was held on 14 March 2017 between UNHCR Tunisia Deputy Representative and Officer-in-charge, Ms. Felicitas Nebril, and the Tunisian Minister of Social Affairs, Mr.Mohamed Trabelsi. The meeting was part of UNHCR's continuing effort to follow up on issues of mutual interest with the Ministry. The means of further promoting the existing fruitful cooperation and exploring possible new activities were discussed between the two parties. UNHCR Deputy Representative highlighted the praiseworthy role played by the Ministry in granting refugees access to human rights. Meanwhile, the Minister welcomed UNHCR's support and assistance to the ministry, through capacity-building activities.
Both meetings were attended by senior staff from UNHCR Office in Tunisia and the ministries.
