I am pleased to share with you the 8th and the latest issue of this year's Newsletter "Women and media in the Maghreb" published by UNESCO's Rabat Office and funded by the Swedish International Development Agency.
This edition is dedicated to the portrayals of five young women journalists from the Maghreb countries, Irane, Fedwa, Maria, Chaimae and Fatma, who share the same strong conviction that their work contributes to building a fairer and more equal society. Fully aware of the potential of journalism to promote gender equality, they share their daily work and practices where they give visibility to women in the news stories, promote women's voice as experts and information sources, make reference to the multiple facets of the roles of men and women in society or where they simply treat information in an ethical manner.
The Newsletter aims at promoting the role of media as an actor in spreading gender equality culture and sharing experiences of men and women who contribute to bridge the gap between women's lives today and their representation in the media of the Maghreb countries.
I wish you a good read,
