PLURAL+ YOUTH FILM FESTIVAL (Programme #1536; TRT 4'31")

In October 2016, Plural+, a youth video festival, celebrated its eighth award ceremony at the Paley Center for Media in New York City. Young filmmakers from around the world presented their award-winning films on migration, diversity and social inclusion, and engaged in active dialogues. As a joint initiative between the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations and the International Organization for Migration, with a network of over 50 partner organizations, Plural+ supports the creative efforts of young people and distributes their videos worldwide.

CARTOONISTS FOR PEACE  (Programme #1537; TRT 4'34")

Cartoonists around the world risk retribution for using their drawings to challenge the status quo in their countries. Recently, the United Nations in Geneva hosted a series of events to showcase the work of cartoonists such as Zunar from Malaysia and Gado from Kenya, who express their views through cartoons in support of world peace and upholding the human rights of all people.

SENEGAL: LET THE SUN SHINE (Programme #1538; TRT 4'08")

The adoption of a solar-powered water pump was only the first of a series of innovations to help farmers in South East Senegal adapt to the water scarcity caused by changes in climate. The Global Environment Facility, GEF, and IFAD, the UN's International Fund for Agricultural Development helped the Government with this 30 million dollar initiative.
