Prime Minister Youssef Chahed meets UNHCR Office in Tunisia and Arab Institute for Human Rights about the draft of a national asylum law

Mr.Youssef Chahed, Prime Minister received on Friday 10 February 2017 a joint delegation from UNHCR office in Tunisia and AIHR at the Dhiafa Palace in Carthage.

A delegation from UNHCR office in Tunisia and IADH met the Prime Minister Mr.Youssef Chahed on Friday 10 February 2017 to discuss refugee issues and in particular the adoption of a national asylum law in Tunisia.
Mr.Abdelbasset Ben Hassine, AIHR's president seized this opportunity to introduce the joint campaign that AIHR/UNHCR launched within the framework of its partnership with UNHCR office in Tunisia in order to expedite the adoption of a national asylum law that is already submitted to the Prime Minister's office.
This law will guarantee a more efficient protection to the refugees in Tunisia and will be in accordance with the Constitution and international conventions that Tunisia is signatory to.
In this line, Mr.Nabil Benbekhti, Head of Protection at UNHCR office in Tunisia stressed the Tunisian authorities' continuous efforts and support of the refugee cause and highlighted UNHCR's ongoing support to assist and to strengthen the Tunisian capacity in regard to the asylum issues.
